Tap Points

I’d like to introduce you to the MTT/EFT—tapping points. It is a simple and effective form of meridian energy therapy. Some call it “emotional acupuncture” but without the needles. You may not have heard of it, and it looks strange. The good news is… it works!  )

If you are new to MTT/EFT, look at the chart below and follow along as I tap you through each point. Diagram Credit: Angela Treat Lyon (Used with permission)

We will start by tapping on the karate chop (KC) point.

I use the tips of all four fingers of my right hand to tap

the outside of my left hand. You may use either hand and tap on either side of your body. Some people like to use both hands and tap on both sides at the same time.

Use the same pressure you would use if you were tapping

on a table to make a drumming sound.

Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap. If you have long fingernails, use the pads near the end of your fingers to tap.

For this training we will use this set up phrasing.

  • Even though I’m not sure about this tapping stuff,
  • I deeply and completely love and accept myself.

Continue tapping 2 more times on the KC point

Say the Setup Phrases out loud (or you can say it silently if you cannot make noise or if you want to be private) as you tap or rub. If you find yourself choking on “I accept myself,” then say this: “I deeply and completely WANT to accept myself.” It will get easier every time you say it, and one day you will surprise yourself by saying “I accept myself” without a thought!.

Next, we move to the top of the head and then we’ll work down the body, making the points easy to remember.

1. Use the fingertips on one or both hands to tap the top of the head.  Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap. (approximately 7 times)

When you say the underlined phrase  “not sure about this tapping stuff” as you tap, it will usually be about that many so you don’t have to try to count just  say the phrase as you tap.

Tapping Points

2. The eyebrow point (EB) is located at the beginning of the eyebrow, nearest the center of the face. You use the index and middle fingers together to tap the  eyebrow point. Tap while saying your underlined phrase. (not sure about this tapping stuff)

3.. The side of the eye point (SE) is located on the bone at the side of the eye. It’s not so close to the eye that it feels like you’re poking yourself, and not so far away that you are tapping at the temple. Using the index and middle fingers together, tap on the eye point.  Tap while saying  the underlined phrase.

4. The under the eye point (UE) is on the bone located under the eye about even with the pupils. Using the fingertips of the index and middle fingers, gently tap this spot while saying the underlined  phrase.

5. Now tap under the nose (UN) with the index and middle fingers while saying the underlined phrase.  The spot is roughly midway between the bottom of the nose and the top of the lip.
The chin point is not really on the chin; it is mid-way between the bottom of the lower lip and the chin, in that indentation area. Tap while saying phrase.

6. The collarbone (CB) spot is located about one inch down and over towards the outside of where a man would tie his tie where you can feel a slight indentation.

Now tap there with the index and middle finger of one hand, or you can use those two fingers on both hands  to tap both of the collarbone spots. Tap while saying phrase.

6. A Another alternative is to pat both collarbone spots at the same time by placing one hand like a choker collar around the front of the neck, keeping the palm flat, patting with about the same pressure as you would pat a baby’s back to help it burp. (This is the one I use)

7. The under the arm (UA) point is located about 4 inches below the armpit. Lift your arm and use the four fingers of your other hand to tap under your arm. Tap while saying your phrase. You can use either hand.

8. The Liver Point (LP) is below the breast under the nipple. (not shown on  diagram) Tap with 4 fingers

These are the points in the short form of MTT/EFT .

Choices Trio Formula

  • Take your initial Intensity Rating.
  • Tap on Karate Chop Spot while repeating your Set-Up phrase 3 times.

(Even though _____________. followed by  the Choices phrase.)

Example:

  • Even though I’m not sure about this tapping stuff,

I choose to try it anyway.

Do Round #1 Tapping on all the points starting with the top of the head (TH) as shown in diagrams using the underlined phrase you put in above.

  • I’m not sure about this tapping stuff,

Round #2 Tap on each of the points using only your POSITIVE Choices phrase.

  • I choose to try it anyway.

Round #3 (a) Tap on each of the points, alternating NEGATIVE and POSITIVE phrases.

  • TH: I’m not sure ……….
  • EB: I choose…….
  • SE: I’m not sure
  • UE: I choose
  • UN: I’m not sure   etc.

At the end of the entire round return to the top of the head, using your POSITIVE reminder phrase. Always end with the positive  phrase.

Retake your Intensity Rating. If it is not down to at least a “1″, repeat the Choices Trio, starting with the Karate Chop Spot.

No time  to do MTT/EFT? Try these:

  • When you go to the bathroom.
  • When you are  put on hold on the phone
  • When watching TV, mute the commercials
  • When stopped at a traffic light or in traffic
  • When standing in line at a store or the bank

Tap away any emotional situations or health issues while waiting.

Some suggested statements you could use.:

  • Even though I have this  _______, I choose to be calm and confident..

  • I choose to completely love and accept myself.
  • I send love and light to all who are surrounding me. (especially good in traffic)

If you are familiar with MTT/EFT, I always use “laf” in my MTT/EFT statements.

laf = Love, Accept and Forgive

because “forgiveness is the key to happiness”  ACIM
